Artificial intelligence capabilities are these days advertised as important features and selling points of almost every technology system. In cybersecurity also a number of products claim that they can intelligently analyze behavior of both systems and humans and report detected or even predict future suspicious and malicious activities.
Opportunities for use of AI appear to be limitless. The claims go from a promise that automated security protection will make the job of security professionals much easier up to the extreme that the (artificially) intelligent systems can entirely replace humans. But what realistically can we expect from AI?
The answer to this question is especially important in the context of cybersecurity. Overestimating capabilities of the AI enabled cybersecurity systems could provide a false sense of security. Underestimating the value of the AI systems, on the other hand, would leave us with inefficient cybersecurity protection. In both cases our systems would be vulnerable to the attacks of those that use sophisticated AI techniques and tools.
