Why Leaders Fail and Derail - The Dark Side of Leadership

Keynote Presentation - 12:15 pm - 12:45 pm

Professor Adrian Furnham is one of the world's most productive psychologists and one of HR Magazine's 20 Most Influential People in HR. With vast amounts of publications under his belt, including over 1300 scientific papers and 95 books, Adrian is here to talk about what he calls "The Dark Side of Leadership".

The data shows, to everyone's surprise, that up to 50% of senior managers and business leaders fail and derail. Given the time, money and effort involved in their selection, the question is why this happens. This talk explores this question.

Join this keynote to hear Adrian Furnham explore three key factors:

  • The process of selecting OUT as well as IN, and being conscious about dark-side personality traits
  • The idea of looking for optimal not maximal competencies in predicting performance
  • The looking at the adaptability and change-readiness of managers

Recommendations for how to avoid these problems will be considered.
